OFFICIAL OXFORD DOWN SALES 2020

 

The Association recognises four main UK sales as official Oxford Down sales.

These sales are good events to see a selection of sheep from different flocks and bloodlines either for commercial or pedigree use.  Some details of the official breed sales are given below. Please contact the Association for more information.

Worcester Show & Sale 2020

This is the Association's main sale and is aimed at both existing and prospective Oxford Down breeders. There is a good selection of rams and ewes forward at this sale and it is an ideal opportunity for breeders to purchase stud rams and for new breeders to purchase quality foundation stock. A show is held on the morning of the sale. There are usually also some rams suitable for commercial use.

Melton Mowbray Show & Sale 2020 - CANCELLED due to COVID 19

This Association show & sale is a convenient event existing and prospective Oxford Down breeders located in the Eastern half of the country and the Midlands. There is a good selection of rams and ewes forward at this sale and it is an ideal opportunity for breeders to purchase stud rams for use on their pedigree Oxford flocks and also for new breeders to purchase quality foundation stock. A show is held on the Saturday morning. There are usually also some rams suitable for commercial use.

NSA Builth Wells Ram Sale 2020 - CANCELLED due to COVID 19

The National Sheep Associations large multi-breed Welsh ram sale provides another good source of Oxford Down rams for both crossing and stud purposes. There is a show held on the evening prior to the sale.
